Can Science, Philosophy and Religion Save Humanity? (Part 3)

In Part 1 and Part 2 of our question: “Can Science, Philosophy and Religion Save Humanity?” we considered, generally, the challenge presented by evolutionary science as a solution to the human propensity to self-destruct. We used the outrageous claim of Jeremy Griffith that biological science has the complete, perfect and final answer to the redemption of the corrupted human spirit and thus of humanity.

We juxtaposed that extreme, evolutionary-based assertion against the divine declaration of the Eternal Creator in His Holy Word, the Bible. We maintain that evolution is a deplorable fallacy fit for an atheistic faction who seem to be delightfully happy and daringly heroic with their general, biblically defined, immoral state. Aldous Huxley articulated the strenuous opposition of this morally moribund cabal as follows: “We objected to a [certain system of morality (the Law of God)] which interfered with our sexual freedom.” [Ends and Means, p. 312.]

In this segment we pose the question: Can philosophy present man with a solution to his fallen state? We will consider the views of some famous philosophers through the ages.

Pythagoras, philosopher–founder of an authoritarian religious sect, maintained a strict dietary discipline and pursuit of esoteric knowledge. Their secret knowledge, practice of magic, and belief in “metempsychosis” (*) saved nobody!

Socrates nor his pupil Plato, the “father of western Philosophy”, could not provide “redemption,” or “transformation” to liberate humanity from its spiritual, psychological, and behavioral maladies.

Plato’s brilliant protégé, Aristotle, also failed by his logic and literature to create a pathway to salvation.

Later “Christian” philosophers—Augustine [City of God notwithstanding], Abelard [legendary French "lover”] and Anselm [despite his forceful rationalism and ontological argument (the very idea of God is proof of his existence)]—contributed intellectual insights but cannot claim credit for creating any philosophies or theologies of salvation, sans Christ.

Though academia may pretend the philosophy of science—or religion— philosophy is not science. It is but mere fantasized “wisdom”. It is rooted in vain, unstable, erratic, fanciful, introspective and intuitive notions wrapped in opaque intellectualism and extreme rationalism. Therefore, any would-be philosopher can generate ship-loads of universalized untruths, heuristic curricula, hermeneutic heresy, and spiritual sacrilege to dupe pupils and public alike. As long as the philosophic erudition and theories are shrouded in techno-tongued verbiage, complex concepts, mystical metaphors, tiresome tautology, and puzzling perceptions, an unsuspecting public, desiring to be perceived as equally intellectual and learned, will swallow hard—to the point of cerebral suffocation—to appear illuminated.

Various religio-philosophic utterances, not necessarily universally illustrious, may serve to illustrate, even if somewhat obliquely, the notion.

Some Trappist monk, Thomas Merton, opined that “Love is our true destiny.” According to scripture God is love. Presumably Merton, being a monk, may have had God in mind as the ultimate destiny of man. However, LOVE is not so much a destination—an end to be reached—as a “WAY OF LIFE”. Love is the way by which the destination—eternity with God—may be reached.

Philosophy and science cannot provide the means to that destiny. The apostle John, an immeasurably greater authority on human salvation than Griffith the scientist-philosopher, or Merton the monk, defined true love for us in 1Jn 5:3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments…” He reiterates and reemphasizes the “formula” or God-definition in his second epistle stating, “And this is love, that we walk after his commandments…” [2Jn 1:6].

Has Griffith, or Merton, or any other philosopher, ever proposed obedience to the COMMANDMENTS OF GOD as an unquestionable expression of love and an unconditional requirement of eternal salvation?

Activist academic and philosopher, Angela David, preaches that “You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time.” [Emphasis added.]

This is exceedingly absurd philosophic sophistry. Analyze the words employed. “Act” [pretend, play-acting]; “as if” [conditional upon the possibility, thus not truly so.] And, “do it all the time”; keep on play-acting and maybe by cognitive osmosis, presumably, the “radical transformation” will inexplicably “just happen”, like evolution, or the “big bang”! [Which, incidentally, has now been blown away with the latest feedback from the James Web telescope in deep space!]

Monumental mental dishonesty or insipid intellectual irrationality abound in the field of “philosophy” which by strict definition means “the love of wisdom”. But “philosophers” can concoct the most bizarre and God-defying theorems and be considered “wise” in Huxley’s age of “meaninglessness” and our morally dying and culturally collapsed society.

Another philosophic delight is presented to humanity by philosophy Professor, Thomas Nagel, who concerns himself with “big issues” like, “What is it like to be a bat?”—considered to be his most influential piece!

Biblically ignorant philosophers, scientists and theologians evolve phantasmagorical, wacky, weird, crazy, luny, and zany concepts from their highly ordered, educated, and civilized imaginations; and, clothed in verbal fancy dress is considered as “wisdom” and perceived as able to “save” humanity. Christ said just the opposite will transpire. If he does not return to terminate international human insanity the “human condition” will ensure that all life will be annihilated from the planet! [Matthew 24:22.] Christ will save humanity—not scientists Griffith, Galen or Galileo; nor philosophers Pythagoras, Parmenides, Protagoras, Plato, Pyrrho, Posidonius, Plotinus or Porphyry.

Philosophers have for millennia dumped their mental utterances by confusing verbal tonnage in every discipline around the world. It litters the fields of literature, science, politics, economics, psychology and religion with fetid philosophical, religious and “scientific” dementia. Like evolution it holds sway over those who, after the order of high priest Huxley, have personal reasons for not accepting the God of creation, but to create their own gods.

Amazingly some gullible souls believe philosophers, devoted to epistemology [the study or theory of knowledge], could, through the philosophy of mind, the philosophy of biology [Jeremy Griffith, et al.; see Parts 1 and 2] the philosophy of science, the philosophy of morality, and their perceived sources of knowledge [science], bring salvation to the world.

Academic philosophic curricula present as sources of knowledge reason [deductive and inductive], perception, introspection—with Jeremy Griffith’s bonobo apes as comparative models?—intuition, telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition.

Note! All these “sources of knowledge” are subjective reasoning processes. It involves an evolution from the philosopher's basic cognitive mental processes as the knowledge source to the ethereal and surreal perceptological world of the paranormal—the domain of demons and the devil!

It is well known that the philosophers of yore were deeply involved with spirits, receiving information and insights from demons, like churchian priests, pastors, prophets, etc. [More about them in the next Blog.]

After millennia of compounded thinking, rationalizations, theorems, speculations, conceptual concoctions, aberrational abstractions, ad infinitum, some still hold to the vain notion that man has the capacity to transform, change or convert the human spirit and thus change the world—even if they have to use apes as role models!

Obviously they are totally oblivious of the scriptural philosophy of human nature: “The heart is deceitful [Hebrew root, aqob: fraudulent, crooked and polluted] above all things” [beyond anything else on earth!]. It is “desperately wicked” or as the Hebrew “awnash” indicate, incurably sick! Man in his total depravity [Calvin got that right!] can never meliorate nor heal Jeremy Griffith’s correctly perceived “human condition”. Though the disease is correctly diagnosed the curative is absent in its aberration.

The human condition, the outflow of the corruption of the human heart or spirit, cannot be healed by religion, philosophy, or science. The healing and melioration of the individual man comes by a divine calling [Jn 6:44, 65] to individual repentance, forgiveness of sin, baptism and being begotten by the Father through Christ as mediator [Acts 26:18, Eph 1:7 and Col 1:14] and living by faith [Heb 11:6] in constant, repentant behavior [keeping the law of God, the Ten Commandments] [Rev 14:12, Jn 14:15] as empowered by the Holy Spirit [Acts 2:38, Acts 5:32]. If these revivifying qualities are not functionally operative within the human heart, man is eternally doomed!

This worldwide redemptive process can only take place after the return of Christ. No man, nor Church, nor Forum, nor Reset, nor Brotherhood, nor nation, nor economy, is capable, powerful or sufficiently wise to accomplish that great reset unto salvation, or to create the passionately desired new spiritually rooted world order. It is a task for Christ and His elected government officials – His spiritually conquering and overcoming future priests and kings [1Jn 5:4; Rev 2:7, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12, 21; 21:7; Rev 5:10]. These are people presently being prepared and tested to ensure their eternal commitment to live by and execute the Law of God—the Ten Commandments—as these are they who bear the testimony of Christ, their savior [Rev 14:12].

Because the human heart is still universally corrupt and sinful no organization nor man can ever change the world. For whatever program of salvation man invents with his disintegrated mind and evil heart inevitably results in universal corruption. Because the heart is filled with depravity man’s handiworks are evil. “GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” [Gen. 6:5].

Griffith’s FREEDOM! is built on a faulty foundation. He thinks that the change of heart can take place through imitating bonobo baboons!! Only Christ can change the human heart working through the Holy Spirit within a heart made willing to repent by the supernatural activation of the divine spirit.

Paul clarifies this God-man dynamic in Gal 5:19-25: “Now the works of the flesh [originating from the evil heart of man] are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Now contrary to these evil-hearted behaviors of man are those produced by the motivation and indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit. And, it CAN NOT COME BY MIMICKING THE BEHAVIOURS OF AN APE! That hypothesis is as vulgar as a tawny donkey sitting on David’s throne. It’s an absurdity wrapped in asinine imbecility. We have to ASCEND into the sublime heavenlies, NOT DESCEND into man’s mindless moral morass.

What is the REAL SOLUTION TO SOLVING THE WORLD’S PROBLEMS? Paul supplies the answer in the verses following: Gal 5:22-25: “But the fruit of the Spirit [of God] is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

Only through the God-connection, to “live in the Spirit and walk in the Spirit” can man be delivered from his evil state. And that state will not be realized until AFTER THE RETURN OF CHRIST. He comes to deliver man from himself—to save humanity, eternally.

How will this occur? Firstly, individuals are to be brought to the changed state—the repentant state—under the influence and redemptive power of the Eternal Father and then, Christ through his global government and the inworking of the Holy Spirit, will spread his salvific truth to all nations to enlighten and educate man about his sinful and corrupt state; and then be given the solution: REPENT FROM SIN—LIVE ACCORDING TO THE LAW OF GOD—ACCEPT THE FORGIVING SACRIFICE OF CHRIST—BE WASHED IN THE WATERS OF REGENERATION—BECOME BEGOTTEN OF THE FATHER THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT—LIVE THE SANCTIFIED [COMMANDMENT KEEPING] LIFE, ETERNALLY!

“Science falsely so called” [I Tim 6:20] or “philosophy of vain deceit” [Col 2:8] are futile fantasies that cannot save a single person, much less mankind. Jeremy Griffith’s book FREEDOM serves as a crowning example of the vain, deceitful “philosophy of science” pedantically disguised as a salvific “scientific discovery”. It is as void of Godly wisdom as is the Australian desert of icebergs.

Philosophers, moral high grounders, academic ivory towerites, politicians and theologians are deceived and misled by Satan. He is the great red dragon, that old serpent, the Devil, and deceiver of the whole world [Rev 12:9].

He is the “prince of the power of the air” [Eph 2:2], and “the god of this world” [2 Cor 4:4]. Any philosopher, scientist, or theologian who has not rejected the PERPETUAL Zeitgeist; the pervasive universal unseen deceiving extra-terrestrial forces; the seducing spiritual powers who draggle men into the gruesome phantom world of spiritual darkness; hating goodness, practicing evil, and permanently pervert the human mind and spirit, will perforce be intellectually conquered and CONTROLLED, directed and destroyed by it. They will do the bidding of dark-souled demons.

“Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed [Gr.: prosecho, having their minds gripped by] seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron …” [1Ti 4:-2]. In the end times devil worship will be common religious practice of the conscience hardened, criminally encrusted society. [Rev 9:20.]

These are they who will be “gathered … together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon [Rev 16:16] to suffer “the fierceness of [God’s] wrath.” His anger, vengeance, violent passion, and punishment [Rev 16:19] will be poured out, “undiluted” upon those who worship what philosophy, science, and theology presented to them from Babylon in Genesis 11 to Babylon in Revelation 18.

“Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all [verse 21].”

Christ was born to be the savior of the world. That means power, dynamism, force, vigor, rulership “with a rod of iron” [strict law keeping!]. Unfortunately churchians have become frozen in the imagined winter cold surrounding the Christ child announcement [Luke 2:11]. They perpetually perceive an airy-fairy, sanctimonious, sentimentally spiritualized, piously fictionalized figure of a paganized “sweet baby Jesus” dandling on a teenage mother’s lap. That worthless myth is unable to deliver humanity! It’s nothing but Tammuz [Ezekiel 8:14], a pagan sex god. The true Christ comes with fiery indignation to destroy sin and willful sinners from off this planet so it can serve as an eternal abode for the family of the Eternal Father. That Christ, and none other, is the salvation of mankind.

Jeremy Griffith, in an unregenerate state, and his book, "shall be found no more at all!"

(*) Metempsychosis. The belief that souls are repeatedly incarnated with punishments and rewards for behavior in previous lives. A doctrine held by some “Rabbis” and used as a fear-inducing control mechanism. Espousing this doctrine, “Rabbi” Yusuf Mizrachi, inter alia, teaches that misbehaving people can be changed into rocks, rabbits, rattlesnakes, rats or ‘roaches! Would believing and teaching such syncretistic Greek philosophic putridity turn a teacher into some disintegrated substance, as per Malachi 4:1-3?
